The Poor Homes Society Governing Body leads with compassion, ensuring shelter, dignity, and hope for underprivileged families through transparent, committed service.
Dears,
The Poor Homes Society (Anatha Mandira Samajam), founded by Shri.K.N.Kurup 87 years ago with the motto "Seva Hi Paramo Dharma!", is a great institution that has wiped away the tears of thousands of poor people and uplifted them in life. Although the founder K.N.Kurup passed away in 1955, the institution was brilliantly led by Smt. A.V.Kuttimalu Amma, who was also a freedom fighter, from 1937 till her death in 1985. We pay tribute to the blessed memories of those great souls.
When it was established in 1937, I.B.Das, son of one of the social renaissance leaders, Ayyathan Gopalan, was the first secretary of the society. Then, for a long time, Shri.K.T.Raghavan, a prominent Sree Narayana devotee and lawyer, and Shri Karat Valsaraj as Correspondent and Secretary led the movement.
At the 84th Annual General Meeting held on 10th December 2022, the panel headed by me was unanimously elected by the esteemed members of the Society.
Since I assumed the office of the Board of Directors as Secretary at the General Body Meeting held in December 2022, 87 years after the establishment of The Poor Homes Society, there has been unparalleled progress in the activities of The Poor Homes Society
Anyone who has observed the activities of the Society for the last eight and a half decades will understand this.
When our Board of Directors took office, the condition of the Westhill Old Age Home and the Chevayur Disabled Home under the Society was very deplorable.
The inmates were living in suffocating conditions in the buildings established in 1937. Unlike the previous management committee, which not only pretended to be the office bearers of this great institution in front of the public but also did not show even the humanity to meet the basic needs of the residents, we feel proud and satisfied that we have been able to carry out many activities aimed at the welfare of the residents and the development of the institution in a very short time. Anyone who visits here can see that change. We continue to expect the full support and cooperation of the entire staff in the forward journey of this great institution.
